The Mass Media accepts Letters to the Editor at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. Priority publication will be given to students before staff or faculty. Letters from individuals not affiliated with the University are not guaranteed acceptance or publication.

Letters can be sent via the submission page on the website. There are several requirements:

  1. The writer must include their preferred name, year and major, if a student; otherwise, a professional title for UMass Boston employees. Optional inclusions are pronouns.
  2. Email addresses will be included with published letters.
  3. All letters must be between 200-500 words. The Mass Media reserves the right to edit all letters submitted for brevity, content and clarity.
  4. Any letter that is deemed to be offensive, harmful or potentially libelous will not be published.

All comments and opinions in signed columns are those of the author and not necessarily of The Mass Media staff, its advisors or UMass Boston, and do not reflect the views of the faculty, staff, student body or Student Media at UMass Boston.
